A sailing day where five members of our Association took the Visenta canoe and the Mar de Muros buceta (a traditional fishing boat) to sail, close-hauled, around the ría.
The unique form of the boats, the Visenta’s lateen sail, and the Mar de Muros’s bolt rope shone for a few hours on the sea, creating a beautiful scene. There were numerous tacking maneuvers with the buceta and jibing maneuvers with the canoe. The Mar de Muros crew, less experienced, could practice without difficulty while the winds were light. When the wind picked up, they needed the experience and help of a colleague to return to shore without major trouble.
A fantastic day of enjoyment and learning.
