On the weekend of 24–26 July 2026, our association took part with the barcaza Mar de Muros and the bote Raqueiro in the activities organized by the Association of Friends of Traditional Boats Os Galos of Bueu, which brought together in this new edition two dozen traditional boats belonging to several Culturmar collectives and coming from different Galician towns.
During the weekend we had the opportunity to attend the scheduled activities, among which stood out the demonstration of traditional rope work (encascado) and the art of rapeta, as well as the lively performances by Cé Orquestra Pantasma and A Máquina de Meter Medo. And, of course, our crew participated in the scheduled sailings on Saturday in morning and afternoon sessions, and on Sunday morning.
The first sailing on Saturday had little wind, conditions that changed radically in the afternoon, when a strong north-westerly wind came in, raising the sea and making this sailing especially demanding.
On Sunday morning the conditions improved and we were able to enjoy another calm sail between Bueu and Beluso. Once the sailing was over, upon entering the harbour, we proceeded to haul out the boats, thus bringing our stay in Bueu to an end.
We wish to send the people of Os Galos a warm embrace, our gratitude for their hospitality, and also our congratulations for the enormous work carried out over these days and for the success of these gatherings of community and maritime culture.
Until next time!
